Jerry Jones Confirms Cowboys Still Active Ahead of Trade Deadline
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has reinforced the team’s commitment to acquiring new players ahead of the NFL trade deadline, scheduled for November 7, 2025. Following a disappointing loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football, which brought the Cowboys’ record to 3-5-1, Jones indicated that the franchise is still actively pursuing talent that could enhance their chances of making the playoffs.
In the recent game held at AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys fell to the Cardinals, led by quarterback Jacoby Brissett, with a final score of 27-17. The defeat marked the second consecutive loss for Dallas, raising concerns about their performance as they navigate a challenging season. With the trade deadline fast approaching, Jones remains optimistic about making a significant acquisition to shift the team’s fortunes.
Focus on Strategic Moves
Despite the team’s recent setbacks, Jones emphasized that the loss to Arizona has not altered their approach to the upcoming trade deadline. Earlier on Monday, he suggested that a deal might already be in the works, although he refrained from disclosing any specific details. “We still can, yes,” Jones stated. “Again. Stand by what I’ve said. Absolutely. We’ll see how tomorrow goes. Today was all about tomorrow.”
The Cowboys are currently positioned second in the NFC East, trailing the Philadelphia Eagles who hold a record of 6-2. Although Dallas finds themselves outside the playoff picture, a few strategic acquisitions could reinvigorate their postseason aspirations. Jones is keenly aware of the competitive nature of NFL trades, highlighting the need to act swiftly to secure desired players. “I just don’t want another team, if I’m interested in completing [the trade], I don’t want another team to step in and get it,” he explained.
Assessing Team Dynamics
This season, the Cowboys have struggled to maintain consistency, having lost three of their last four games. Quarterback Dak Prescott has shown promise, supported by talented receivers like CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Additionally, running back Javonte Williams has made a significant impact since joining the team in the offseason. However, the defense has faltered, particularly after the departure of Micah Parsons, which has diminished their pass-rushing capabilities.
As the trade deadline approaches, Jones appears determined to make bold moves that could help the Cowboys reclaim their status as contenders. While the pressure mounts following back-to-back losses, the franchise’s history of strategic trades may play a pivotal role in their quest for a playoff berth. With only days left before the deadline, all eyes will be on the Cowboys and their potential for transformation.
