Tulsa King’s Shocking Father-Son Reveal Examined by Stars
The latest episode of Tulsa King has left viewers reeling after a significant revelation regarding the fraught relationship between Jeremiah Dunmire and his son Cole Dunmire. In season 3, episode 6, the series sheds light on the deep-seated resentment Jeremiah harbors for Cole, rooted in a tragic family history that unfolds through a poignant flashback.
This episode reveals that Jeremiah’s bitterness stems from the loss of his eldest son, who died in combat. As the surviving son, Cole has been unfairly compared to his deceased brother, intensifying the pressure on him. His choice to wear camouflage clothing further exacerbates Jeremiah’s grief, as it serves as a constant reminder of his loss.
In an interview with TV Insider, the actors behind these characters, Sylvester Stallone and his co-star, discussed the complexities of their roles. Stallone, who portrays Jeremiah, acknowledged that the backstory he developed for Cole is multifaceted. He emphasized that Cole’s actions are not merely attempts to gain his father’s approval but are also driven by a desire to fill the void left by his brother’s death.
“I mean, he is trying to replace his brother, trying to replace his mother, trying to do everything he can to make this man happy, or who used to be nice,” Knapp explained. This insight into Cole’s psyche adds depth to the already intricate father-son dynamic.
When asked whether Cole could ever earn Jeremiah’s respect, Patrick Knapp expressed skepticism. He noted that Jeremiah’s idealized view of his first son creates an insurmountable standard for Cole. “His image of his first son was too perfect for anyone to live up to, especially someone who has disappointed him so many times already,” Knapp said.
Despite this, he hinted at a possible turning point for Jeremiah. “There is going to be a moment where Jeremiah stops himself and realizes what he was about to do, and it’s a moment of real clarity,” he explained. This moment, while not guaranteeing a reconciliation, suggests that Jeremiah may begin to recognize the unfairness of his expectations towards Cole.
As the season progresses, viewers can expect more tension and emotional confrontations between these two characters. The show continues to explore the impact of grief and the challenging pursuit of acceptance within a fractured family unit.
The series, which features a strong cast and compelling narratives, airs on Paramount+ and has drawn significant attention since its premiere on November 13, 2022. As fans eagerly await upcoming episodes, the intricate storytelling and character development promise to keep them engaged.
With its mix of drama and emotional depth, Tulsa King continues to captivate audiences, making it a standout addition to contemporary television.
