University of Delaware Student Arrested with Weapons, Assault Plans
UPDATE: Authorities have arrested a University of Delaware student, Luqmaan Khan, 25, after he was found with multiple firearms and disturbing materials, including a notebook detailing plans targeting campus police. The arrest occurred just before midnight on November 24, in Wilmington, Delaware, and raises serious security concerns on campus.
Police encountered Khan while conducting a routine check at a local park, where they discovered his white Toyota Tacoma parked after hours. When officers approached, Khan reportedly refused to exit his vehicle and attempted to resist arrest, prompting police to take him into custody. A subsequent search of the Tacoma revealed alarming contents: a loaded handgun, extended magazines, body armor, a laptop, binoculars, and a notebook with notes on warfare techniques and assault plans.
The notebook reportedly included a detailed diagram of the University of Delaware Police Department, identifying entry and exit points, and even mentioned an officer by name. The implications of this discovery are profound, prompting immediate action from university officials and law enforcement.
Interim President Laura Carlson stated that Khan has been banned from all university campuses while the investigation unfolds. Following his arrest, federal authorities were notified and executed a search at Khan’s home, where they found another handgun equipped with an illegal “switch,” allowing it to function as a machine gun.
Khan now faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a large capacity magazine and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He has been turned over to the FBI for further investigation and potential additional charges.
This incident underscores escalating concerns regarding campus safety and the potential for violence. University officials are working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff as they navigate this troubling situation.
The university community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Legal proceedings against Khan are expected to commence shortly, and updates will be provided as this developing story unfolds.
