Arizona Wildcats Surge Ahead with 47-32 Halftime Lead Over Norfolk State
UPDATE: The Arizona Wildcats are making headlines as they storm to a 47-32 halftime lead against Norfolk State during their matchup at McKale Center on Saturday. Center Motiejus Krivas has been a standout, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds in the first half, shaking off early struggles for the Wildcats.
Arizona, entering the game with a perfect 5-0 record and ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, faced a sluggish start, hitting only 43.8% of their shots initially. This included a missed first 3-point attempt from Krivas, who was eager to make his mark in his college career.
The Wildcats found themselves trailing early as Norfolk State took a brief lead of 8-7. The Spartans were sharp, taking six different leads throughout the half. However, Arizona managed to regroup, launching a decisive 16-4 run to secure their advantage.
Adding to the drama, Arizona suffered a setback when wing Ivan Kharchenkov twisted his left ankle with just over five minutes remaining in the half. He was assisted off the court by UA athletic trainer Justin Kokoskie and did not return to the bench, raising concerns about his condition.
Despite the early challenges, the Wildcats’ resilience shone through as they closed the half strong. Brayden Burries contributed 10 points, helping the team achieve an impressive shooting percentage of 53.6% from the field.
As the game progresses, all eyes will be on whether Arizona can maintain their momentum and address the injury concerns surrounding Kharchenkov. Fans are eager to see if the Wildcats can continue their winning streak and solidify their status as championship contenders.
Stay tuned for updates as this game unfolds and the Wildcats strive for victory!
